What we collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address and username (nickname). When you use the app, we store your health profile preferences, avoided ingredients, and scan history. We do not collect your location, contacts, or any other device data.

How your data is stored

Your data is stored securely on Supabase, a cloud database provider. Access is restricted so that only you can read or modify your own data. We do not have access to your password — it is encrypted by Supabase Auth.

Product data

Product information (ingredients, nutrition facts, images) is sourced from Open Food Facts, a free and open community-maintained database. This data is not linked to your account and is not stored beyond the duration of your scan session.

How we use your data

Your health profile and avoided ingredients are used solely to calculate personalised ratings for the products you scan. Your scan history is stored so you can revisit past scans. We do not analyse your data for advertising or any other purpose.

We do not sell your data

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal data with any third parties for marketing or commercial purposes.

Deleting your account

You can permanently delete your account at any time from the Profile screen. This removes all your personal data — including your email, username, health profile, avoided ingredients, and scan history — from our database immediately.

Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this privacy policy, we will notify you within the app. Continued use of Clafy after changes are made constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Product data accuracy

Product information in Clafy — including ingredients, nutritional data, and images — is sourced from Open Food Facts, a community-maintained database. This data may be incomplete, outdated, or incorrect. Clafy does not verify the accuracy of this data and cannot guarantee that it reflects the current product formulation on shelves.

Not medical advice

Clafy provides general food information and personalised ratings based on your preferences. Nothing in this app constitutes medical, nutritional, or dietary advice. Always consult a qualified health professional before making decisions based on your health condition.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Clafy and its developers are not liable for any harm, loss, or damage arising from your use of the app, reliance on product data, or decisions made based on ratings provided by the app. Use Clafy as a helpful guide, not as a definitive source of truth.

Your account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account. Do not share your login credentials with others. You can delete your account at any time from the Profile screen, which will permanently remove all your data.

Acceptable use

You agree not to misuse Clafy — including attempting to access other users' data, reverse engineer the app, or use it for any unlawful purpose.

Changes to the app or terms

We may update these terms or the app at any time. Significant changes will be communicated within the app. Continued use after changes are made means you accept the updated terms.
